Aussie Luscious Long Shampoo – Are you ready to harm your health?

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,

the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair”

Review of the product:  I have long hair and always look for a shampoo for my type of hair, yet there aren’t so many available. Aussie smelled so nicely and I have decided to tried it out. It has an interesting name – luscious – on of the meaning is a synonym of stunning, gorgeous, sexy, beautiful, attractive.

Aussie promise: shampoo for long locks hair, leaving hair shiny and smooth, but it does not tell you how harsh it is for your health. Here is the controversy..

Pros:

  • My hair was shiny, but dried out, not easy to style – I have no locks BTW- so I could not proof if it works better on long locks.
  • It has a clean bottle-Aussie Luscious Shampoo does not flow through fingers, it has a right consistence.
  • It smells nice, although the scent does not last on dried hair.
  • Hair after using it are easy to comb, but only if combined with Aussie conditioner – or any other one. I did not test it without a conditioner applied.

Cons:

  • It has an awful colour: blue green shiny-like a diesel product-I would not purchase it if I would have seen this colour in the shop. Tricky Aussie keeps it invisible in this cream plastic bottle.
  • It has a hard plastic bottle, which makes it hard to squeeze and get a shampoo, but it gives at the same time the right portion of it.
  • It is quite pricy comparing to its neighbors on the shampoo shelf.
  • It has a quite aggressive ingredients list and aloe barbadensis leaf juice is only on the 22nd position (!), SLS on the second position (!!!).
  • It is not tested dermatologically and all those SLS by daily use may irritate the skin of a sensitive scalp and make it itchy.

Aussie Long Luscious Shampoo is just an okay product. Not much to be excited about. As a brand is well recognized and all my long hair female friends know Aussie.

However, I will not be buying any of Aussie products again, so disappointing, after reading how their ingredients are harmful to our health (read link below).

And here a bit of controversy about Aussie shampoos-especially SLS:

According to Wikipedia*, “The National Skincare Authority and Livestrong have both declared that consumers of Aussie products must be aware that Aussie uses toxic chemicals in its manufacturing process. The National Skincare Authority has rated Aussie Shampoo a 1.1/10, a highly toxic hair care product in the shampoo category of the Natural Hair Care Product Review. The National Skincare Authority has also stated that “The Aussie Mega Shampoo does not meet any natural ingredient parameter.” Some Aussie products contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, an alkaline ingredient that helps penetrate dirt and oil on hair. This chemical is known to contain dioxane, an identified carcinogen (according to Natural Health Information).” [1]

I wish I have had read that before I have bought those products instead of doing my research before writing this blog post!
